Design Criteria of Pistols

Pistols for military or law enforcement use differ greatly from out and out target weapons, although that does not rule out the use of such firearms for target purposes.

Target practice for military weapons should mimic closely the circumstances and lighting that are likely to be encountered under "on duty" conditions.

Under stressful conditions the speed with which an accurately aimed, reliable second or subsequent shot can be fired may well outweigh the stopping power, magazine capacity or mechanical repetition rate. In other words it is no good having a high powered super fast acting auto pistol if it's recoil makes your arm jump upwards and thus off target.
