Dr. Dorian J. Pritchard is a specialist in human genetics, formerly at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in UK. He is an active beekeeper, with a keen interest in bee breeding and honey bee genetics. He is currently President of SICAMM... Societas Internationalis pro Conservatione Apis melliferae melliferae International Association for the Protection of the European Dark Bee.
The menu item about inbreeding is a clarification, critique and extension of Professor K. Bienefeld's paper on Inbreeding... An article that appeared in the 'Scottish Beekeeper', July 2007.
Dorian often writes in the BIBBA magazine Bee Improvement, it was a lecture that he gave a few years ago that allowed my brain to come to terms with DNA, for which I am eternally grateful.
The photo at right was captured by Sandra Unwin at the BIBBA conference in Bath 2006, it shows Dorian in full flight.
Not an article, but an inspired piece of carpentry, Dorian has made a travelling lectern from a newel post, and I can give a first hand appraisal as I have used it myself, I will seek permission to reproduce the design on this website.
