Colony Management Techniques

The buttons on the left will take you to some colony management techniques that various beekeepers have found useful. As always with beekeeping, what suits one person may not suit another. This can be for several reasons including the type of bees kept and local conditions. There is often a possibility to modify an idea to suit your own situation and I encourage beekeepers to do that.

Terschelling Method. This is a total colony management method used by Harmen van der Ende on the island of Terschelling in the Netherlands. Harmen uses it to control swarming, replace queens and reduce varroa. It will also ensure young brood combs.
