Queen Honey Bee Problems

Queens are not living as long as they should - why?

Many beekeepers are experiencing problems with queens that have only appeared since the turn of the 21st century. These problems include:-

  1. Young queens failing.
  2. Young queens being superseded.
  3. Queens "disappearing".

There are other problems that are possibly related.

Many beekeepers, even experienced ones, are not recognising the problems. I know they are widespread because I have spoken to foreign beekeepers and identified problems wherever I give demonstrations. Check out the buttons on the left for help and advice. "Poor Queen Performance" is an account of what I regularly see.
