I was aware of Raynet prior to my joining, as I had done some work with the Home
Office on radio surveillance.
I was single, had a considerable amount of radio equipment, several fast cars and
a highly paid job. I also felt that there was a need for "organised" civil
defence and I would be "doing my bit" for the community. The picture at right,
from an old ID card, may be somewhat solemn (the "mutton chops" have been a
common feature on my face until recently).
I have not participated in Raynet since 1984 when business and domestic
commitments increased in importance and some of my interests just had to be shelved. I do
however strongly support the aims of Raynet although I no longer take any active part in
their activities.
